About the fundraiser
The twin earthquakes in Nepal caused devastation of epic proportions. Given our Nepalese roots, and still with family back in Nepal, we felt we had to do something. Something. Anything. Being so far away from Nepal, we decided that raising funds for organisations that were already on the ground helping the relief operations was the best option we had. So we set up this online fundraiser to encourage our friends and colleagues to chip in what they could for Nepal. And they so generously did!
How much did we raise?
We were so close to reaching $5000 ... so..so..close. We raised a total of $4969!!! This money was sent directly to Red Cross Australia and Clean Up Nepal.

Who we are
We are a team of two - my husband Sudeep and I, Supriya Shakya. alittleALOT is a little initiative that we started last year to raise funds for Room to Read's Girl Education Program in Nepal. We raised over 3k for this cause. (Read about our Girl Rising Campaign for Room to Read). And now we wonder if we can repeat history, with a bit more ambitious target of raising $10,000 in aid of Red Cross's Nepal Region Earthquake Appeal. Its a massive amount for 2 people to collect but with our network of friends and colleagues or (anyone that lands on this page) in/outside Australia, we are hopeful to reach our target.
Why we are doing this
Both of us have Nepalese roots. In fact, we still have families back in Nepal. Fortunately, our families have been safe - so far. But there are many that have not been so lucky. It saddens us to see the plight of the country right now. We wish we could be in Nepal to help the relief efforts somehow but we know that it will not be as useful as aiding the organisations that have skilled personnel for deal with these emergency situations. Hence we chose Red Cross - an organisation that we have known since kids - back in Nepal. We know we won't go wrong in assisting Red Cross with their relief efforts in Nepal.
